Yoga 4 Kids is a unique yoga studio for kids only! Our yoga teachers are licensed clinical therapists. Our philosophy is that kids require to be “Healthy From The Inside Out!”

At Yoga 4 Kids, our yoga classes are infused with empowerment, mindfulness, breath work and social skills.

We empower kids to be the best version of themselves through challenging yoga poses, self-awareness, managing stress through breath work, and cooperation in working together and group work.
 

ABOUT YOGA 4 KIDS!

Yoga 4 Kids yoga classes incorporate an asana practice that combines breathwork, movement, mindfulness, meditation, creativity, and fun in a program that is both engaging and educational.

As clinical therapists, we have seen an alarming amount of stress and anxiety amongst children of all ages. In our clinical practice, we teach our clients breathing techniques, coping strategies, and guided meditation. Although these techniques work, we decided to take this a step further and offer Yoga 4 Kids to everyone! We are a yoga studio where children can learn even more strategies to empower themselves and learn to manage stressful situations with their own toolbox of strategies!

BENEFITS OF YOGA 4 KIDS!

Yoga is Healthy!
Yoga helps develop fine and gross motor skills, builds strength, balance and flexibility. When a child  works hard to master a difficult pose, it gives him confidence and boosts self-esteem. Getting kids up and moving creates a foundation for a healthy lifestyle. The added benefit of yoga is that it also teaches kids how to quiet their minds and teaches important coping skills.

Yoga Teaches Social Skills.
Yoga helps children develops social skills by using various group games,   activities, and poses. Working together as a group and in partners is encouraged. Yoga is noncompetitive and we encourage each child to do their personal best while having have fun. Yoga is a great way for kids to make new friends while participating in a healthy activity with their peers.

Yoga Teaches Healthy Coping Strategies.
Yoga helps kids focus and concentrate while they are practicing poses. Yoga also teaches kids healthy coping strategies like being able to calm themselves through meditation and breathing techniques.

These coping strategies can help kids deal with frustration, anger, and other emotions by  practicing breathing techniques and other tools that will help to focus their mind. They will then be able to apply these tools in their everyday lives and be able to react appropriately to any situation, especially the stressors and pressures they may experience as they get older.

Yoga Is Non-Competitive

Many kids do not like to participate in competitive sports.  In yoga, each child comes to class at their own level. Over time, each child may increase their balance, flexibility and poses. Yoga is supposed to be fun!

Yoga Encourages Self-Confidence.

Many times kids come to class unable to touch their toes, balance or master a particular pose. Over time, their flexibility and balance may improve and they are able to master that difficult pose. This creates a confidence level like no other!

Yoga Is A Tool Box For Stress Management.
Yoga provides kids an safe outlet to reduce stress. It encourages physical exercise that produces endorphins in the brain which result in feeling good and happy. Breathing exercises help to slow down the heart rate, and relaxation techniques are instrumentalin calming the mind and the body.

Yoga Improves Focus and Concentration.
Yoga requires focus and concentration while practicing poses, and playing the yoga games. It can give kids a mental  break from all the thoughts, worries, and exciting things happening throughout their busy days.

There are so many things that distract kids today. Many kids are “addicted” to video games, computers, Ipads, and cell phones . They have difficulty  focusing on anything for any length of time. Yoga can help with that. Yoga teaches kids to be present in the moment and to concentrate and focus on their breathing through relaxation and guided meditations.

They learn how slow deep breathing can help calm them throughout the day, in any situation, whether at home or in school.

Yoga Enhances Body Awareness.
Yoga poses vary from balancing, strengthening, twisting, back bending, and inverting. All of these poses have the ability to teach a child about their body. Yoga teaches children to listen to where in their bodies they feel a movement and express how it makes them feel when they are complete. Body awareness is an invaluable tool for all stages and ages of life.

Yoga Teaches Healthy Habits.
Yoga is not a destination…rather it is a journey of a lifetime, which takes discipline. Ideally, when children learn at a young age the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, it carries over into their everyday life of activities, relationships, and responsibilities. When they learn that yoga takes practice versus an immediate accomplishment, they learn and accept that life is a path with good days, bad days, and everything in between.
